What should my target resolution be?
What do you mean by a target resolution?
The target resolution is the minimum amount of screen space that a web page takes up without the user having to scroll to the side. The amount of screen space is measured in pixels.
There are two resolutions that are used with the overwhelming majority of web pages on the internet. Either 800x600 or 1024x768.
How do i decide what my target resolution is?
The choice between the two resolutions depends largely on what kind of users you expect to visit. You have to look at your product and think what end of market your focus is on.
For example, a web site that is selling new computers should probably opt for the lower resolution because most of its customers are likely to be visiting on an old computer.
